You sample classical music to tap into the power of those who knew their craft, which is to say that the scores had actual musicians, which is what I just said. But, how is that different than photography utilizing a tool? The piano is a camera. The musicians and the photographers are not the art. Some musicians and photographers are artists. Some are technicians. Some are both. Some are copiers. Sampling is copying.
