You are an excellent writer, and as someone who will retire in no more than four years, I am glad and appreciative of your article. I have never had a job where I thrived; my purpose and value have always been outside of work. I remember during COVID that even while I was frightened by the potential of an economy coming unglued and people going from door-to-door and taking other peoples' food, for example, I relished not working for four months. In that time, I flourished. I ran at one point without stopping 6.2 miles in the hills, and I ran almost every other day. I also began singing and have since written lyrics to many songs and have recordings that international composers say they like. I am finishing the details of three books, and then I will feel freer. If I have enough money to retire, I will write at least one song a day and craft articles based on the many ideas I get. I have so many hobbies that I cannot imagine worrying about lost "interactions" because those were in servitude. My job for over 40 years was a block of time where I gave everything I had to others. It has almost killed me. It still may.
