While not exactly the same, I am reminded of a scene from Kiss of the Spider Woman, where William Hurt cleans up the fecal mess of his sick, co-imprisoned lover. Akin to your farting hesitancy in another piece, the character played by Hurt lovingly addressed the necessity of cleaning because he truly loves this person as well as sees that the mess cannot be ignored. They are in close quarters and stuck there. It is a perfect example of true love or perhaps infatuation. Hurt is exotic in the piece, but his flamboyance is like a distraction to the truth and beauty of love. I think this “I pee freely” instance shows acceptance of another’s proclivities, because “Hey, why not? If it gets my lover off, then that’s fine, because I love them.”
