There is no such thing as an "unwarranted justification," if the justification seems unreasonable then you question it or decide it isn't good enough, but you also have to decide what that justification means to the person, who gave it and maybe your logic might be the correct view, but this person made a decision, you have to decide if you can live with someone who makes that kind of decision. This is where communication comes in again, if you care. But, I think this whole thing is like ships passing in the night in foggy waters. If there are no fog horns, they won't even know they are there.
