That is such a wonderful story. I am glad the Tongans proved Golding wrong. But, I am also glad they found food, etc. That’s incredible. Interestingly, Aldous Huxley wrote Island, which as many know Tongans are a communally-based society. They are very sweet and kind. Samoans, on the other hand, are individualistic and may have provided a different scenario. But, I do think people, in general, would not want another person to die. There was a hypothetical case, "The Case of the Speluncean Explorers," where people were buried underground, and in that case, "They learn via intermittent radio contact that, without food, they are likely to starve to death before they can be rescued. They decide to engage in cannibalism, and select one of their number to be killed and eaten so that the others may survive...
