Jessica, the choice of that opening photograph is absolute genius. I know it may have been easy for you, but it's really that good. I have been watching these outdoor, far-removed contests, where people, try to survive for 100 days in the wilderness of Alaska, for example, and what I understand by their example is that reality is sparse. We are living in an artificial dream. Those animals have very little as did the humans and there are only a few of them separated from each other for miles. At some point, our food supply, which is, in effect, a series of monocultures, will become blighted, poisoned, and/or thread-bare. The planet cannot support 8 billion people. Our intelligence cannot overcome the reality of our presence, which is a biological anomaly. We cannot cheat the truth.
