I think most of us get a sense of a book from its thesis and a few examples and read it to an extent that it interests us. Your idea about updates belies the actual need and interest. Do the work to the best of your ability and move on. The success or failure of your book will dictate further versions or not. My suggestion is to finish your thesis as soon as possible and get to work on surviving. I find your awareness of your responsibility to your SO to be interesting, where I could never imagine taking on another person’s financing. As a writer with a day job, I can barely take care of myself, especially with COVID and what my day job is. I haven’t made a penny here, nor anywhere else as a writer, composer of music, lyricist, painter, photographer, etc.

I am curious about this platform, the music business and so forth. I feel content providers are getting duped. The beneficiaries are the platform architects and administrators, CEOs, etc.
