I think Biden was influenced by the Right’s condemnation of mandates and he’s tried to compromise. He is correct about us getting it. I took my mask off for a while and I got it. Luckily, I got all the vaccinations and booster to diminish the effect otherwise it might have killed me. My girlfriend believes it will be like the flu and keep infecting us with variants. It relates to our monoculture as human beings. We are all more susceptible to things like this because of our similarity and connectivity. What was exciting about COVID is how the scientists got together and brought forth a vaccine so quickly. I am told they dismissed the usual Nobel motivation. The initial response to COVID in America by Trump was the culprit. Business, as I have learned hates regulation of any kind and basically could care less about workers if it affected their bottom line. I worked on the front lines four months after COVID was declared and no one has ever worn a mask. I work as a server in a restaurant. We are expendable and during the event our company dropped all medical benefits. We had to use our vacations to qualify for healthcare and a third party came in and gave us healthcare for seven months. Our jobs were outside and greatly expanded. We made minimum wage. Business to me is the thing that needs to change. If we have to work to survive then it has to serve us as citizens. We need universal healthcare. We need an income that doesn’t impoverish us. The stress level of my job is killing me.
