I remember walking along the sidewalk under the walkway of a three story mall in Waikiki. There were a number of people gathered around a man, who was lying on the pavement.

Apparently, I heard he intervened in a domestic dispute, and the boyfriend threw him off the top floor. Half his face was smashed and his eyeball moved around in its socket like he was trying to surmise the extent of his injuries by the reactions of others.

I thought there was no way he was going to survive.

As a former employee with the Prosector’s Office, who helped people with TROs, I know your thoughts all too well. Women go back to and often protect these men, who hurt them/others. I see them as the scum of the earth. They have such fragile egos, but apparently strong limbs, and so there is often no justice for the hell they wreak.

Hawaii became one of the first states that investigated and prosecuted these individuals regardless of spousal or boy/girlfriend testimony. Circumstantial or other witness support was enough.
