I loved this piece. I spent my life standing up for people as a shop steward while waiting tables. My doctor father died when I was ten. I worked in the Prosecutors Office. Got a BA in Speech. Later a certificate in Paralegal Studies. I keep fawning on the fact that I loved briefing cases and writing memoranda, but it took too long. My friends, attorneys, had stacks of cases on their desks. The air conditioning ducts had to be blocked by sheets of paper. I did poorly with standardized tests, but I made the Quill and Scroll Society. I got an A on every paper and test while studying to be a Paralegal. But, I am risk-averse. I can't imagine spending $150,000 just to realize I can't pass the Bar and I have spent three years getting into debt. My mother died with nothing and never had anything. I could not afford to take her in as she was overcome with Alzheimer's. I have written books, music, painted, photographed, and remodeled a condo. My very close friend married an attorney, who makes a million a year and lives in a 20 million dollar house. There is just no argument anymore. She married someone else. I have always regretting not going to law school and not marrying...
