I apologize for all the grief you must have felt. It was probably always about your attractiveness and the desire of the observer to get in your pants. That has been the norm. Times have changed. As you say, such efforts are crass at best. They are harassment unless they are welcome. I think we have more body language education to do. And there are men I know who first insult or tear down women as an ice breaker, which apparently works, because they are successful. So many women are seeking validation. So many men are allowed to be this way because of their looks. As I get older and have changed from a long-haired, buff, dark skinned surfer to a bald and pasty skinned man, who can’t do pushups due to a separated shoulder, women are nearly intolerant of any type of sexual arousal and response. My very presence is an affront. The default is assumed attraction. The looks I get are complete eye contact avoidance or tolerance. But, I understand it. I have a shovel and I have begun digging.
