Abortion is about protecting women from thoughtless men.
Ms. Valenti you have said that women cannot protect themselves from pregnancy induced by a rape because the vagina does not produce spermicide. Thank you.
You said that gynecological exams cannot be conducted remotely by women swallowing cameras. Thank you.
Women’s freedom is at stake. Men on the left are not informed. They need to speak up about abortion but they have to be informed.
You ask given the seriousness of the times, where state-level abortion bans are passing that men need to do something, sharing their stories about abortion making sure women don’t feel like they are alone.
There are traps that are catching male politicians. Sanders, for example, said that women need to be in control of their bodies and medical decisions between them and their doctors.
But, Sanders didn’t know how to respond to sex-selective abortions. What this means is that women may choose which baby to have even if the issue is whether the child is a boy or a girl. Republicans aren’t concerned about gender discrimination, but about broader bans. You say that myths about sex-selective abortion are often based on racist assumptions about Asian-American communities, or that there is no law against sperm-sorting or IVF (in vitro fertilization) implantation of male embryos. It’s just about abortion.
Pete Buttigieg said that hypotheticals are provocative and decisions are not going to be made better because the government is dictating how those decisions should be made.
Yes, who do white men think they are talking to? Women have been spoken to and for and not consulted on issues that affect them. You don’t want us to be afraid to speak up, but we need to speak about the importance of access, not simply because it should be fair and the right thing. Just because men make up the majority of lawmakers and those with the most money and power and they they are generally taken more seriously. Women are terrified. Men are in a position to use their privilege and power to help and we are needed to do our best and be passionate and knowledgable in protecting women. Abortion is about protecting women from thoughtless men.
Elle Beau’s piece called “Body Autonomy Is Protected By The Constitution” is the best thing I have ever read about abortion rights, where she said: Body autonomy is a critical component of the right to privacy protected by the Constitution, as decided in Griswold v. Connecticut (1965), McFall v. Shimp (1978), and of course Roe v. Wade (1973).
Thank you for standing up for women by informing men. What astounds me as a man is how many women seem to be standing against themselves. But, I understand what’s going on. They are concerned about the babies women have within them. And I understand that women should not be living vicariously through other women or other women’s children. I will forever hold that men have no right to say a damn thing and because of this, we are also refrained. We want you women to stand together and protect yourselves. Let us know that this is what you want. All of you, not some of you and not only do you hope that we stand up for you, but you also want us to stand up for your right to choose. Every one of you has that right. You come before us.
But, we love you. We respect you. You speak the truth. My mother gave me everything. I love my mother. Thank you.
